JOB DESCRIPTION
It is important to confirm Santen’s product will not infringe any third party’s patents so that Santen can do business without IP risk that third party may sue Santen. For this purpose, the job needs to make search strategy, to conduct patent search and ultimately to secure Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) of Santen’s developing/commercial products.

・Patent search
Job of this position is to make search strategy and to conduct patent search solely or, if necessary, supported by Manager and/or Head of Patent Search & Dispute Management according to approved strategy and ultimately to secure FTO of Santen’s developing/commercial products. The result of the job contributes to identification of potential IP risk in R&D activity. Job of this position includes patent search to support IP transaction, the result of which contributes determination of value of the target product/asset and identification of potential IP risk relating to such product/asset. Errors in the job cause misjudgment of R&D activity’s go/no go or IP transaction’s evaluation.

・Provision of patent information
Job of this position is to collect information about patents of competitive products for assessment of their Loss-of-Exclusivity (LOE) solely or, if necessary, supported by Manager and/or Head of Patent Search & Dispute Management. Such information contributes to projection of competitive products as well as determination of in-house generic product development plan. Job of this position includes collecting technical information to help R&D activity, the result of which contributes to determination of research field.

・Acquisition of patent rights
Job of this position is to conduct patentability search of invention created in R&D activity and to file and prosecute patent applications and ultimately to acquire patent right for the invention solely or, if necessary, supported by Manager and/or Head of Patent Prosecution & Management. The result of the job contributes to building a longer exclusivity of Santen’s developing/commercial products.

■休日：完全週休二日制, 土, 日, 祝日, GW, 夏季休暇, 年末年始

QUALIFICATIONS
・Knowledge of IP/Legal sufficient to discuss external patent counsels
More than three year experience as patent practitioner/searcher or equivalent experience/knowledge

・Experience of patent prosecution, search and/or dispute
More than three year experience as patent practitioner/searcher or equivalent experience/knowledge

・Experience and knowledge of research/science
More than five year experience as researcher or equivalent experience/knowledge

・Language skills sufficient to communicate with Santen affiliates’ colleagues, external business partners and external patent counsels in English
